Default rear diffs vs the front

sry guys new to the forum so not sure on how this goes.. but i was wondering about the rear diffs not matching the front, 5.13s and the rear is the stock 3.73 bought the truck from a buddy that had just swapped out the rear end after it blew out. main question is will it mess anything up being locked into to 4 wheel with the different gear combo, going to get the matching 5.13 rear asap but for now just want to kno

YES it will.

Both need to spin at the same speed. What is going to happen is your rear wheels will be spinning at a different speed than your front wheels which will be extremely hard on your entire drivetrain.

basically your truck will be fighting itself to move.

Yeah bad juju if you stick it in 4WD, get them both the same before engaging 4WD or you will have a lot more to fix.

The only time ive heard of using different ratios is in dedicated mud-bog trucks where they run different kinds of tires on the front and back and can easily spin at different speeds.

But in your case, dont do it.

best case scenario youll bust a u-joint or twist a driveshaft... worst case scenario your t-case chain will go SNAP!

If you have the autotrac tcase it will go in and work somewhat and if it is the autotrac you wont break the chain or the driveshaft but will deff burn up the clutch pack in the case.
