lift kit using torsion keys and spacers?
#1
is it possible to lift the front end using torsion keys and bj spacers or is it like a one or the other thing?? i figured that would get about 3-4 inches and i canb put a block and add a leaf in the back to get abotu 4 inches, is it possible? or i could just add more leafs to haul more. is there anything i would need to make it work, like new shocks ?

On any truck with torsion bars, if you start going over about 2" of "lift" without dropping the diff, and drop cross members, you start running into serious ride, wear, and handling issues.
The only cheap, safe, and reliable lift is a body lift.

02 chevy silverado 1500 stock. what if i replace the torsion keys? and i dont want a body lift, i know they are cheap, but i just dont like them as much. im not sure why but it doesnt sit well that the body is off the frame. how are they for hauling and pulling?

And when installed properly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a body lift (as long as you get a good kit). My buddy's Grandpa has had a body lift on his work truck for about 10 years I think, and he beats the HELL out of that truck with zero issues related to the body lift.
If you're looking for a cheap way to lift the truck for purely aesthetic reasons or just to fit larger tires, you can't beat a body lift. Cranking the hell out of the torsion bars will cause premature wear on your suspension, and end up costing you more money in the long run.

ok makes sense, its not really for looks, although i do want bigger tires, but i wanna go 4- 6 for added clearence, cuz i recently discover mud. its this really cool stuff that is fun to play in, kind alike snow. haha we get lots of both round here, but the reason i wanna use torsion is its cheaper, but i see what your saying. is there any other way to jack it up in the front end?

thats not a bad option, im thinking i wanna go around 4-5 in the back and 4 in the front if its possible, i haul and pull with my truck, but i want it to ride nice and handle well, im gonna be puttin 33" tires on once i lift it up a bit, and adding exhaust cai and maybe headers, which is gonna be expensive, so i was looking for a lesser expensive way of gettin it up a lil bit. i was thinking of goin with a 4 inch block, but that doesnt beef up the suspension in the back, so what about like a 1 or 2 inch block and like 3 or 4 more springs? will it make a notcieable difference? ( i haul wood all winter and its in a big a trailer heaper) and we have a 18 foot boat that likes to buck wind.

There is no "spacer" to put up front..If your only going to run a 33 then just do the keys in the front and an add a leaf in the back..A long leaf will ride better but a short will have more load capacity and will ride rougher..
Putting a 4-6" lift kit on and only running 33's would kind of be a waste since you'll be lowering the front suspension ...
Here is a pic of my truck when i had a 33's on it.Ive only got keys up front ..
