Im going to build a tube cross member for my tranny so that i can do the exhaust like i want and have all the room i need.
My ? for some of you builders is will .750 sch 80 be sufficent for the job.
I mean really its just gotta hold the weight and a little bit of torque roll. Id figure it will be ok but just asking.
Definatly not just a single tube across. My plans were to cut two pieces bend the ends on angle to go under the inside bolts and saddle around the outter bolts. Of course have two small tubes for bolts to go through. Two tubes across the truck would be welded together in various locations across the run and a plate welded with stand off in the middle for tranny mount. Gussets on inside of inner bolts and at stand for tranny mount.

I would Strongly recommend using tubing instead of Schedule 80 pipe...
Tubing will measure correctly on the O.D. While Pipe is typically larger. The Die's on a tubing bender are completely different for each application.

Yea that looks pretty good i just dont think i need one that big.
Im goin to talk with a guy that built my brotherinlaws dragster an see what he comes up with. He probably will have some tubing in his shop.
I hear ya on the DOM, real good stuff.

hmmm, thats a good idea, how much would you pay for such a crossmember? i would need to know bolt patterns, frame widths, and mounting height of the tranny in realation to the cross member. i have the means to make em, just need the specs.
