Default Upgrading Sound ?'s

Hey guys,
I am going to upgrade the sound equipment in my truck. The stocker sounds terrible. I know many are going to respond to this saying upgrade the Head Unit but I'm not just yet. Gonna try speakers and amp first. Want to keep stock look to keep the thieves away.

Polk speakers in the front and rear doors. A Profile California 1000W amp under or behind the rear seat. An Infinity Basslink self powered sub tied into the rear channel from a line out output from the amp.

My question is where do I tie into the Factory Head units to get the channel inputs? Gonna get a Peripheral Super V 4 channel which I assume I splice into the speaker outputs from the head unit at the head unit. Then adjust the inupts down with the Sven to RCA into the amp. Then new speaker wire from the amp to the speakers or will the factory wires carry 40W RMS.

Its been a long time since I've done anything with amps. Do I need a 4 channel amp or just a two. The one I list is a 4 channel. Front Chanel and Rear Channel I'm thinking. The amp has high and low crossovers built in. Would I need any more?

Thanks in advance for any input.

1. No Profile Amps. No Profile anything.

2. get a single 4 ch 100x4 amp at the minimum for both the front and rear speakers. Brands to look into that are relatively low cost and reliable are Kicker, Alpine V12's, and MTX. You should have to spend more then $250 or so. Check Ebay or www.indoaudio.com

3. Most amps have a line level input, so you can run the factory speaker outputs directly into the amp. But I've generally had better luck with LOC (line output convertors) Less noise is introduced into the system with a good LOC.

4. Nothing wrong with a Basslink, cheap bass, that is small and easy to install. Just tap into your rear speakers for an input signal.

5. http://www.knukonceptz.com has an amp install kit that is low cost and has great parts in it.

there's a good reason he's warning you to stay away from profile. if you want a cheap amp fine. but don't expect anywhere near 1000 watts from it.

Make sure when looking into amps you check for rms not peak. Peak dont mean ****. Most of the cheap stuff they say oh our amp is a 1000watt read the fine print its actually a 400watt or maybe even less you get what you pay for. Dont skimp on the amp thats where the sound quality really comes from. 1000$ speakers and 150$amp=shitty sound. Get a good amp i.e. JL, MTX, or Phoenix Gold are the best IMO. Also Memphis is really good thats what i have in my truck.

I've forgotten about the Profile amp. Knew it was like and 80W X 4 RMS. Looking at the Alpine F450 now.

Plan on using the LOC (Peripheral SVen 4). Do I just splice into the speaker wire outputs at the head unit and channel them through this LOC?

How are the Polk speakers? Looking at DB675 and DB460. Also looking at Alpine Type R SPR-17lp and Infinity Kappa 462.7 cfp. Any input?
