Default temp gauge bounces

when sittin at idle or going sometimes my aftermarket trans temp gauge bounces about 25* if its idling at low rpm it seems to get lower and when i accelerate it jumps up. im pretty sure this just started happening. i have the stock alternator, could i be putting to much draw on the alt. with the efans and the gauge, system, radar etc?? i dont remember noticing this until today so maybe its going out. who knows??? im pretty sure the wiring is sound and the sending unit is only a few months old so i dont think its that

Is the coolant full...possible air pocket? You mentioned that the sender is new, but is the connection solid, and is there any RTV on the sender messing up the signal?

um, there was a little exposed wire right before the ring connector and ipushed that in and it seemed to help a little bit. no there isnt any fluid on the outside of the sender and the coolant is full, i dont think an air pocket would allow the metal to cool down THAT much to make such a difference. problem has seemed to fix it self now but i have a pillar pod, new gauge and new sender on the way so it should look better and mahybe work better too

most likely a bad connection. either the terminal is loose or your wire might be coming apart.

yea well i bought a new gauge and pillar mount and im gonna redo the wire from the sender to the gauge. the ground wire works fine and the 12v has power. im getting an autometer sender with the gauge so maybe that free permacool gauge and sender was just crap
