Default Stock Radio Question

My truck didn't come with the factory head unit, If I installed another factory stereo would it have to be programed to my truck? I have a buddy that wants to trade me for my Pioneer. Let me know guys.

As long as the factory harness wasn't cut up and the factory radio isn't locked you should have no problems at all. Some factory head units will lock when 12v power is taken away from them. You will need the code for the radio (usually found in the owners manual) or take it to a dealership....I would think they could help you out if its locked. I know currently I have a factory head unit in my truck that came out of a completely different truck and it works fine.

I took the stock CD player out of my 02 and put it into my '99 work truck without a problem. Just have to be sure that the factory harness is still there, some people (I know, because I used to install stereos) are too damn cheap to buy a wiring harness and will cut the factory plug off and then cobble together a big mess of wires, which almost never works.
