Remote Start

I have a python 1400xp. Twice its had a few **** ups where the car would still flash the parking lights after the key was in, but it went away the next day so I never really worried about. Other than those 2 **** ups it works great, works REAL far away too.

I actually had one on my old 3/4 ton. It really isn't too terribly hard to install if you can read instructions and you're confident in your ability to break into the dash. In my case with the 97 k2500 I removed all of the plastic/metal protectors from the dash to install it to make it easier on myself. At the same time I installed the actual alarm itself as well. If you have the time/patience/the ***** to maybe mess somethin up, it's worth it. They do sell special wiring harnesses though for each year model, I work at best buy and got mine there (reg price is about 45 bux). dunno what it'll call for for your truck. hope I gave some decent advice....
another comment: since I sold the 3/4 and got my new truck I got the viper 575xv (i think that's the model number), I didn't install the new alarm because it's a brand new truck and dont have the time, but I hear that on newer models it's a bitch to do the remote start installs (takes the installer at our store 4.5 hours on a newer model)

Thanks for the info. Im not worried about the install as my brother works at a place that does this kind of stuff.
I am just wanting something to tie into my factory key fob

ive got the clifford remote start and i love it. i havent had any problems and did the install myself. its a five wire hook up and you need to be confident with your electrical skills. you will also need to buy the ignition bypass for the theftlock. most audio shops will have these. good luck

Factory key-fob is really no big deal, for someone with some experience and techincal savvy. The draw-back to using the factory key-fob is that it won't have the range (or security) that an aftermarket option would offer.
Having done literally hundreds of installs, I really like the aforementioned DEI stuff. It's reliable and easy-to-use, and offers many features over the factory stuff. My '05 RCSB has the Viper system, and other than the extra-gawdy remote, I love it.
Biggest concern with aftermarket electronics (especially if you plan on keeping the vehicle) is the quality of the install. Again, done hundreds, and in those, I've fixed a few too. If you've got someone you trust, you're all set.
