all kinds of crazy
allright so here the deal. i wired up my mechanical sweep trans gauge a while ago, and recently it will be cruising at a temp, slowly fall about 15 degrees, then bounce up thirty, and fall back down slowly 30* and keep bouncing up and falling back but when i turn the engine off it settles. it is also settled at idle. bounces between 175 and 215 pretty much. i know its more than 30* but thats just the usual. what could be causing this? seems it started after the efan install. could the gauge be getting too much power during acceleration? the wiring shouldnt be bad because it was fine for a while. im thinkin about getting a digital gauge but maybe that would bounce weird too. anyone??

where do you get a scan gauge? and will it work with an aftermarket sending unit thats not wired into the pcm or anything at all? or is there some stock sensor somewhere in the transmission system that the truck just didnt come with a gauge for?

I have this one. http://www.aeroforcetech.com/ all you do is plug it into the diagnostic port and tap into an ignition wire for power. Takes about 2 minutes to wire up.

this wouldnt work with an aftermarket sending unit would it? unless you plugged the senders wire into the analog input on the back of the gauge. or is there a stock trans fluid temp sensor somewhere thats not hooked up to a gauge?

i would ditch your gauge and sending unit and just get the scanguage. Much MO BETTA! Actually the tranny temp sender is built into the the wireing. That scanguage would pick up on it. I have both the autometer C2 tranny temp and the scanguage. Go to that website in the link above. It does more than just tranny temp.

yea i know it does more than that. i didnt knwo there was a temp sender built into the stock wiring, thats cool, guess thats why the escalade cluster hooks right up. i can seem to find a price for that scdan gauge? what did you oay for it? i dont have enough money to be droppping 200-300 bucks on electronics right now so ill have to stick with hte autometer for now but ill probably invest in that scan gauge shortly after i buy the LC-1 wideband.
