Default Line Out Convertor problem

I'm trying to wire a sub box into a friend's 04 Chevy Optrausing a line out convertor wired to the two rear speakers for signal. This is new to me, but I thought it was a fairly straightforward process. Well, all we can get from the 12 inch JBL box is a faint buzzing sound. Does anybody have any experience with these? He's taking off to his home 8 hours away soon, so I'd really like to get this working for him. TIA.

I had the same problem in my 03 SSS. I used a cheap LOC the first go around, then switched to a Stinger, which helped a little bit. Make sure you have a really good ground. Are you getting any engine noise from it?
