Default engine noise

How do you get rid of engine noise through my stereo system? It drives me nuts!!!! If I put the power wire from the amps say on a top post battery and run the power to the alt. starter, etc to the side post will that make a difference? I was also told to use a larger ground on the battery to the engine. I have the noise reducers already on the rca jacks before the amps and that did not change anything. Any help would be great.

the ground from the amps or amp needs to be really short, short as you can get them, yes the ground wires need to be bigger than the power cable.

Ya ^^^ what he said, and the ground really needs to be no more than 12 in. at most, the shorter the better and nothing smaller than 4gauge for the ground wire

engine noise most times has to do with grounds or the RCA cables being run along the power wire also can cause interference

Also, stay away from cheap low-dollar amps.

Aftermarket Spark Plug wires will cause interference as well

Well the ground wire for the amps are short as I can have them and they are larger than the power cable. I also ran the power wire on the driver's side and ran the RCA cables on the passenger side. Anything with the actual power wire for the truck itself? I guess I will have to get a bigger ground for the amps and the truck also. Thanks

It was a $900 amp. It is a professional series amp. 380rms X4. The sub amp is a MTX.

Your grounds on your amps should be fine as long as you cleaned the spot they are attached to on the body of the truck. The size and length of the ground wires dont have as much to do with anything as long as they are at least the same size as the poer wire. If your rca's arent near any wires running from the engine bay I would look next at grounding the engine to the frame with some 1/0 ga. wire or something that size.
