Default Does this setup work?

havent done stereo stuff in a long time....i wanna run a single L7 12 in my extended cab truck. im gonna use a single L7 box from stealth or someone and use a Rockford 1000 watt mono amp. now the speakers are 2ohm DVC and the amp is 1000 watts at 1 ohm. now to get the setup to 1 ohm i hsould run the L7 in parallel correct? and then just go straight to one of the sets of + - hook ups? i do not bridge the amp correct?

also i guess..is this amp gonna be enough? im getting a great price on it. its 175 brand new in the box.

Yes, to get 1 ohm at the amp you run the coils in parallel. If it's a mono amp you won't be able to bridge it (takes 2 channels to bridge). Also, make sure the 1000 watt rating is RMS. For 175 is sounds like a 1000 peak power amp, which would be around 300 watts RMS. Also, double check and make sure that the amp is really 1 ohm stable.

some A B mono amps have two sets of +/- but are bridged internally, therefore, you can run a 2 ohm load on each set of +/- or 1ohm on either(if its 1 ohm stable).....like thunder550 said that is really cheap for a 1000 watt RMS amp unless you are getting one heck of a deal.....generaly speaking a good NAME BRAND amp (wich rockford is) will usually be 50 cents to 1 dollar per watt (1000=between $500 and $1000) and thats why i dont think that amp is 1000 RMS....now if the amp retails for $500 or more and you are just getting a good deal then thats different. what is the model number on the amp and we will be able to help you out a little more....

Online it is more like 4 watts per dollar these days. Power is cheaper and cheaper, I purchased a 1500 watt RMS amp for 300.

yes this amp is the exact same one that you can get a Best Buy or what not for 600. a good friend works at a local audio shop and can get it, his price, for 175ish new in the box. the ratings on the amp say 500 watts x 1 @ 2 ohms and 1000 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm. with a frequency response : 20-250hz. and yes on the amp..it has two sets of +- makin me think it could possible be bridged. so with this now...will this amp work? thanks for the help guys

After looking at it, BB just doesnt show that its 1-ohm stable. They most likely dont advertise that its 1000 @ 1ohm because most everything they sell is going to be ran at 2 or 4 ohms. But that amp is 1000 watts @ 1-ohm, directly off of RFs website.

yes, it will work....i worked at best buy for 2 years installing car audio and this amp will do just fine for what you are looking for. now that we know it retails for $600, 1000watts RMS is a little bit more believeable. but i can say that this line of rockford amps are very nice and very small which is good for tight spaces (trucks)....installed several of these on a couple rockford P3's and alpine type R's and it sounded great.....
