hey, im new to the whole performance sound system stuff, but i have a 4 channel amp and i am wanting to bridge 2 of the channels to run a sub, and then use the other two channels to run 6x9's. i was wondering, do i need a special wiring kit, or can i get away with the standard wiring kit from best buy. thanks

 

need to know the watts,but i dont like going less then 4gauge on amp kits, id go to a stereo shop also. best buy kits are wayyy over priced

 

it is a 1000 watt amp, and the sub is a 500 watt 12" sub, and the 6x9's are pioneer rev series at i believe 320 watts each. i'll check out a car audio shop this week

 

a 1000 watt 4 channel amp? you know the maker? you need to find out how many ohm stable the amp is & how many ohms your subs are wired at...the 6x9's are more likely than not ((not guaranteeing)) gonna be running at 8 or 12 ohm i believe i can't remember right now depends on how you have them wired to the amp...best bet for something like that is to use the 4 channel amp to run your highs (the 6x9s & whatever you have in your doors) & go pickup a 2 channel amp to run the subs

 

Post up the model number. I'm 99% willing to bet it's a 1000 watt max amp not rms.

EDIT-also 6x9s in my opinion are a waste. Get some good 6.5s and 5.25s to go along with your sub.

 

agreed probably like a 250 or 300 RMS lol good 'ol max...such a great selling point haha & that sounds like it would be at .5 ohm max so you'd be fine to run the subs if the amp is .5 ohm stable

Also want to make sure the 4 channel you have has seperate hp/lp filters for the front two and back two channels otherwise you will not be able to tune the 6x9's and sub seperately. You do not need any special wiring kit, just the one you would normally use for a 4 channel amp.

 

the amp is a 1000 watt max, the reason i got it is i got it off craigslist pretty cheap. and the 6x9's are from my old sonoma highrider, i had them in the back in boxes since there are no speakers in the back of those trucks. i just figured since the amp is a 2/3/4 channel amp (has a switch on it for what you want to do) might as well put the speakers to use (at least to see how it sounds, i can always pull them out and run the sub only) but yea, i know how to wire it all for the ohms, i just wasnt sure what to get casue i went to the store to get the wiring kit and there were kits for your standard 2 channel amps, but them for like double the cost were kits for 4 channel amps. just wasnt sure if i needed the 4 channel amp kit or if i could get away with the 2

 

it might end up cheaper if you just went and picked up your power & ground wire & then just a set of 4ch RCA's...i mean do you already have the speaker wire? you should only need like 2.5 or 3 ft of speaker wire...
