Thumbs up Speed Engineering

I don't know if I am just having bad luck or what, but my experience so far with Speed Engineering has not been a very good one.

I ordered the following parts for my 4L80E conversion (problems in parenthesis):

Cable bracket
Conversion wiring harness
Crank spacer & bolts
Crossmember (in contact with lower driver's side of transfer case - need to grind to clearance correctly)
Rear driveline (too long - it will bolt up to the rear diff but the yoke is pushed as far into the transfer case as it will go - there is no room for it to move as the suspension compresses)
Front driveline (dual yoke is too large in diameter - does not clear shift linkage bracket)
Dip stick tube
Transfer case gear
Lines and fittings
TCI flexplate (wrong bolt pattern - my converter is 11.5", flexplate was 11". Bought the correct flexplate from my local dealer)

4 of the 10 conversion items I ordered do not fit properly. One is fixable by me (grinding the crossmember), the others are not.

I also placed my order on either Monday, April 17, or Tuesday, April 18 (can't remember which). As of Thursday, April 27 (9-10 days later) I was still short two driveshafts and a crossmember. Sean agreed to split the expense of overnight shipping with me so I could have them on Friday the 28th (which was great, thank you), thinking that I was going to finish the truck up over the weekend. I finally got the transfer case installed tonight and went to install the drive shafts, and saw that neither will fit.

Sean agreed to take back the flexplate as long as it didn't look used so he could resell it, which I can appreciate. I sent it back today. I did test fit it to the engine and converter to see if it would fit, and there were some light marks on it from the crank spacer, but that was a necessary step to test fitment.

Sean - I will be calling tomorrow to arrange the return of the drivelines, I am going to have them done locally so the place can measure and I make sure that I get the right lengths and that everything clears like it's supposed to. I'm not sure what the deal is with the incorrect rear length and the front shaft being too big around, is my truck a freak or are there other differences that you have not taken into account?

I just spoke with Sean, and he apologized for the driveshaft problems, seems there might be a difference in length with the Autotrac transfer cases. He agreed to let me have a local shop do the work necessary to get the drivelines to fit correctly and he would credit me the difference. One thing I definitely do appreciate is their cusomter service, I have never had a complaint about their level of service. Thanks for helping me make this right Sean. I appreciate it

I feel confident that he will after talking to him about everything. I was disappointed with the big pieces of the conversion kit but if he makes it right then I have no complaints at all about it. BTW Golden - can you change the thumbs down on my thread title to the standard thingy? I was upset when I posted this last night, got a little carried away. My experience isn't that bad as long as he helps me out.

I had a prior issue with Speed Engineering on a 4l80 mod last month. Sean made things right with a sense of urgency in the end. Good Luck! Your in good hands.

All differences were credited back 5-8-06. You should see it in your account no more than 2-3 business days.

Thanks
Sean

Thank you for taking care of me Sean...customer service is what wins these days, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from you again even though there were some problems.
