I suspect downshift slippage, high engine revs, harsh engagement of the input sprag, jolt of driveline... = way too much force impact on bearing. Didn't have a chance.

< $40 w/ shipping... too bad it takes a week to get 'em. I'm only disappointed with that b/c my two youngest kids have gone to grandma's for the summer, and my eldest off to summer school near his other grandparents. I couldn't work on it this weekend, but I did get something mounted on the wall of my storage shed... It passes air to some tools I bought recently. I've got to wait until Wednesday to put the trans back together.

Almost... I may just go back in the valve body, and pull that single washer from the 1-2 accumulator. What do ya'll think? Leave it for Transgo's recommended shift firmness, or remove?

I've been looking at the truck for at least a couple of weeks now. Since I didn't have the parts, I've been buying tools for the past week. I guess that's not a bad investment. Gotta get a higher torque pneumatic impact though. The baby-250 I have still won't get the crank bolt off that busted 5.3L sitting in my yard. But, it does make rotating tires a lot easier than the lug wrench.

Well, faithful followers, here are a few pics of the sprag. Talk about tear'n stuff up. Looks like a VERY CHEAP OEM assembly.

Question(s): What's the difference b/t the 29 Element Sprag vs OEM sprag? More SPECIFICALLY... what makes the 29 better than the OEM?

I'd remove it, I had one in mine and I ended up taking it out.

Well, the one that's replacing it is OEM. I pulled that extra washer out of the 1-2 accumulator, and am strongly considering removing the other one.

I got a b-day present that wasn't supposed to be her until tomorrow. Those Alto clutches were sittin' on my doorstep when I got home. So, I started putting everything back together, and filled the pan halfway with trans fluid. Those clutches are soaking until I get home tomorrow when I get off from work. It would've gotten finished tonight, but wife & I went out with some friends for my b-day. Hopefully, I'll be driving the truck tomorrow. We'll see.

Good to hear. Now it's time to start a poll to project how how long it lasts this time. JFWY Ron. I am still looking for another guy at the shop!
