Default State Capitol Dragway 5/12/06

Going to the track tonight with a friend so he can get some stock 1/4 mile times in his 98 Ext Cab GMC before he does any mods. If anyone else goes out there look for a Green 98 Ext Cab GMC in the staging lanes.

I'm between Lafayette and Youngsville. The stock '98 Ext Cab went a best of 16.00 @ 87mph. His truck would dead hook on the street but spin at the track. Another friend of mine with a '97 ext cab Silverado w/STS Turbo went 14.30 (didn't see the pass so I don't know the mph). It wasn't hooking, boost leak, and trans would shift into drive then go right back to 2nd. So once he address those problems he may get into the 13s. Another friend of mine was testing a customers cobra. The factory blower was removed and replaced with twin turbo, the manual trans was replaced with a Ford AOD, and it has a Ford 9 inch rear end. He drove it to the track from Lafayette. It ran a best of 11.40 @ 130mph on drag radial....needless to say it was blistering those poor drag radials. Next time out with it, it will have 28 x 10.5 ET Drags and a small shot of nitrous. Goal is to get the cobra in the 9s.

Nice runs man.Alot of us went to NPR tonight.I went to SC once and will never go again....there track is **** when it comes down to traction.I go to NPR and don't get so much as a chirp from the tires...i went to SC same exact mods on a hotter night and smoked the tires all through first on all three runs of the night.Plus the left lane feels like your on the interstate....so bouncy...
You guys should try to make it out to NPR one night i bet you will hook up better than at SC.

We generally go to NPR when there is a race on a Saturday or Sunday. NPR is a 2 hour drive for us and just a lil to far to go after work on a Friday.

Same as i always do unfortunately....14.9's Austin drove it once and since he weighs about 50-80lbs less than me he hit a 14.8
I'm gettin the truck retuned on the 22nd.I told Allen i wasn't happy with it.
