Need to Clear the Air.......

ok heres my side
I called Bryan for an install cause my eaton broke. I already had 373's in it, Bryan told me he had too much work at the time and that i would have to wait 3 weeks. He then suggested that i should take the truck to Mark (creative engineering offroad 11635 Sleepy Hollow Conroe Tx 77385) (281-298-6769) (www.ceoffroad.com). He said he highly recommended him and that he even had tools that Bryan himself did'nt. Anyway i said ok, soo i took the truck. I met Mark and told him that i wanted another eaton posi and a Richmond 4 10 gear installed. Mark insisted that i should go with Yukon cause he had such good luck with them. Previously Bryan suggested that i go with Yukon also. So i said ok Mark you are the proffesional **** it go ahead and order them. So he did. Mark went on and did the installation, he called me, I went to pick up the truck, and like everybody with a new posi, I had to check to see if it was. As soon as i turned the corner leaving Marks place, i did a small burn out to see if both rear wheels were turning. When i say small i mean very small by the way. From there i went straight to meet Charlie Wheatly to tune in my new set of 410's. After spending 20 min at CHarlie's I went home. Bryan and Mark had told me about the 500 mile BREAK in period, so i figured i would take it back and forth to work for a couple of days, since I work in Texas City, thats 30 miles one way from my house. I took it to work for 6 days and also used it to go run errands here and there thus never exeeding the 65 mph speed limit. Sure enough when the gear was about to complete its 500 miles( about 430) to be exact, I took it to the track and made 3 motor passes in 96 degree weather. On my way home I sprayed it on the street. The next morning i took it for a spin and i heard a whine. An hour later it was so loud i could'nt go passed 50mph without it screaming at me. I called Mark and told him the situation. He told me to take it to him so i did. Only that on my way over to Marks place i lost the drive shaft due to so much back lash that the pinion had because of the new steps on it. AP2002 can tell u about that one cause he was my ride back home from marks place. Mark opened it and called me to inform me that the ring and pinion were burned. He said that it was improper break in. After some thought and frustration, i told him to get me another ring and pinion. He did, and agreed to install this second one for free. When i went to pick it up. I had to take the new drive shaft i had to buy ($125), I took ithome but this time i set the trip on my cluster to make sure i would have 500 miles on it before i ragged on it. Need less to say, 300 miles later of babying this gear it began to scream at me again. I called Bryan immediately and told him about it. He told me he wanted to see it, so i took it to him. After taking a good look at it and taking a few pics Bryan called mark and told him about the steps that the pinion had but not the ring. So obviously the ring hardenned fine but the pinion did'nt right. THAT MAKES IT A DEFFECTIVE SET RIGHT. So bryan and mark aggreed and mark called randy's ring and pinion. (which is where Mark and Bryan Get there parts from) Note that in neither install did i order my own parts. Cause i would have preffered richmond right off the back. So technically i dont have anything to do with randy's ring and pinion right. After that Mark said he called randy's and sent the pics showing the gears, they said it was bad break in again and that they could'nt warranty them. SO mark called me and said basically that i was fucked. oh and he said he was sorry too. At this point I was left out in the cold with no 410's two bad gears, a lost drive shaft and a non drivable truck. not to mention the $$$$$$$$$$$ i lost, Bout $525 to be exact but still cant drive the truck. What the **** is a man to do at this point ? I was really hoping for my installers to go half on a richmond for me and install it. Yukon gear defects should not have been my problem, mainly cause i did'nt deal with them but i felt like i got fucked from all angles here what yall think ?
PS: If i wanted loud gears id of done it my dam self

everything that sammy just wrote is the exact way it happened.... I know cause he lives a few blocks away and I know how frustrated he was with this gear install that he took all precautions to make it work right, I had even forgotten about the lost of the expensive $$$ custom driveshaft that broke too cause of the shitty *** installation... that was a good $300-$400 on top of the $1400 that was spent, plus he still had to buy a stock driveshaft to get it up and going ($125).... plus having his truck down for 1.5months cause of this also... I also think you got screwed from all angles..... as you mentioned, it would of been way cheaper to go to a well known business like "pyle brothers", plus they would of had covered it with waranty with no bullshit...

It sounds like Mark did you a favor by installing the second set for free after you beat the **** out of the first set

Not many manufacturers warranty labor, only parts. So for Mark to install the second set for free after you openly admitted to abusing the first set, I don't see how he owes you anything.
IMO, if you wanted richmonds, you should have requested them or bought them yourself. Don't blame Mark or Bryan for that choice - you made it and nobody force fed you Yukons.
BTW, this is coming from a person who has experienced a $3000 loss due to a bad gear install

There seem to be conflicting stories...Bryan said that he checked the 2nd install and it was flawless?

I can't comment on the first install because I didn't inspect it. The second install was text book.
The ONLY thing wrong was that there was excessive backlash due to steps being worn into the pinion gear teeth. Originally the backlash was set at .007" (spec is .006"-.010"). The pinion shim was .035", and there was plenty of carrier and pinion bearing preload.
All of this is correct for the 4.10 R&P.
