Default How a blown, stock motor looks...

All I have to say right now is that I'm one unlucky *****-----!

I'll be up early tomorrow morning disassembling the motor in my Yukon. I'll need the following:

fuel line removal tool
cherry picker
engine stand
manpower

For those who haven't heard, the Yukon's 5.3 was jealous, and decided to possibly throw a rod. I don't know for sure, but different sources tell me the same possibility. I'm going to try to calm my anger before I take a sledgehammer to my daily driver. One thing's for sure, I'm glad this happened close to home, but pissed that it happened to an untuned STOCK motor!

BTW...Yukon has 111K miles on it. I bought it new in '02 with 7 miles on the dial.

I have a cherry picker and engine stand in storage in Bogue Chitto. If you are willing to buy the gas to go get it. Sat. will be the only day I will have to go get it though.

I say the 5.3 comes out the c-10 and put in the Yukon, then swap a 6.0 into the
beast.

May be my last resort. I have one or two concerns about the block in the C10, but I may have to swallow that, and do it anyway if I want my DD back up by Monday morning.

Good thing for bad luck because without it you would have none at all. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Vince

I am finally making progress. I spent over an hour trying to get the crank bolt out of my busted motor... tried impact gun & propane torch (to heat it up), but the damn thing won't move. After about 1.5hrs of my time was wasted, I did what Nick(tm) and I talked about yesterday, and Matt (white1) reiterated this morning... pulled the crank bolt off the C10, spent 30 minutes cleaning the rust of Cody's old pulley, put the propane torch on it for about 10 - 15 mins, slid that pully onto the 4.8 (with a snap), bolted the crank bolt with the impact, and now I'm taking a break for lunch.

Here's some pics from yesterday on up to quittin' time last night:

Brad (BradS) stops over to see the carnage, along with Matt & Nick helpin' out

The #7 rod is on I-12 somewhere... the piston has yet to be found (oil pan still bolted)

Bye Bye 5.3... bay looks empty w/o a heart.

Nick worked his *** off, with a soar back! Can't thank you enough!!!

New motor in place... no it's not a 6.0L either... Yukon may soon be on a used car lot.

Now, here's where I'm at now...

On the home stretch. Just have to finish routing my harness to the A/C compressor & starter, get the starter off my C10 (I'll buy a new one later) & bolt it to the Kon, finish bolting the y-pipe back to the manifolds, bolt the water pump & fan back to the front, bolt up the Alt & PS bracket, slip the belt on, hook the battery back up, fill with oil & coolant (water flush first), and HOPEFULLY my problems are solved.

I'll post up something later this evening. I should be done by nightfall. My most sincere thanks goes to Nick & Matt for helping out while being soar and all. Couldn't have gotten this far without you guys! Thanks again, and again, and again, and again, and again....
