That blows. Definately a rare occurance. Some good focused pics would be good when you get the pan off and have time. I'd like to see exactly what happened.

Donor motor is a stock, low mileage 4.8L longblock... thanks to a local guy that works in a performance shop. I've been thanking people left and right for any and all help that was provided to me. My upper body aches like hell. It took 20 hours from start to finish, and done it in 1.5 days. I'm satisfied with the outcome, but sad b/c my Kon isn't quite MY Kon anymore. I'll be finding a new home for it. I still have my C10, but I had to steal the starter and crank bolt from it to get the Kon going for work in the morning. I'll try to remember to take pics of the old starter. The rod that blew outta the motor cracked the starter housing bad.

my piston pin and other part of the rod were lodged up against the cam...i was leaning more to the piston coming apart than rod failure..ive had rods break in my race car motors and pistons were still left in the cylinder..by the way the guy behind me brought me back a part of my piston that was lodged in his grill..
