Default Good and bad news from my day at MMP

Went to Montgomery Motorsports Park yesterday for an invitational race. Good news is the truck was running well. Track was hooking well and got some good 60's with the new converter. Best was a 1.68 after the sun cam out and warmed the track some. Truck ran 13.25@100 with 1.78 60' on motor and 12.17@111 on the gas. Bad news is on my last run I poped and head gasket and seems to have broke a rod after teh cylinder flooded. Pulled the plugs today and #6 was very mangled. Tried turning the motor over by hand after pulling the plugs and it would only turn 1/4 in either direction before it would lock up. I will be pulling it apart sometime this week to see how much damage there actually is.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Just curious what your plans are if the 5.3 isn't rebuildable? 6.0?

I already have a 6.0 shortblock being assembled. I just have to decide which route I am going to go and if I want to go ahead and upgrade the rods/pistons in it or not. I also have to find a set of heads for it.

I know exactly how you feel Kenny. I thought I blew a head gasket. Turned out the #7 piston had a hole in it the size of a quarter. It was my daily driver also. Good luck on getting it up and running.
