i always hoped that i would never post a thread with this title, but i guess i got to take one for the team! lol

well here goes the pics of the piston...

so this is what i have now..... one broken down truck, one 8mpg gas hogger and i am sure glad I got a little gas beater for work!!

now, i need yalls opinion, will i be better off fixing the motor or just get ahold of another longblock from a salvage place?

I would get another longblock. I would also get another intake manifold. If your failure was anything like mine, the valves let fragments and piston pieces into your intake. You dont wanna recycle anything into your new motor. Thats just my opinion

yes, a broken spring did it all!!! i wasnt at the track, i was just doing a few WOT runs when it happened... damn it!!

one more question: when i bought this motor there was alot of questions if it was a LQ4 or LQ9, i know you can tell on the pistons, but i dont know any better so can some one that knows tell me which one is it? that motor was out of a 2005 yukon denali AWD

it looks like a lq4 to me ap.i would check the rest of the engine before making any decisions.

it is an (was) lq4 AP, just look at the piston it has a little dip in the center, as opposed to the lq9 it is complety flat with no dish on it. that was a really good motor for being lq4.
