I think that all items for sale should have pictures of actual item for sale in the thread, or be deleted. It sux when you have to ask for a email pic, then go to email and get it only to find out its a generic pic, not the actual item for sale. just my 2 cents

In the end the buyer needs to decide if they are comfortable with the seller and if there are any doubts then either the buyer needs to back out or go after more info from the seller.
It's been discussed before.

you need to go re read what he said.

The seller can easily google the item he's selling and post someone elses pics as his items.
For instance i can say i'm selling an Ls6 intake (which i've never owned). I just use google images and search for Ls6 intake copy the image location and say here's the pics if your interested.
So just because you see an image of the item the person is "SELLING" doesn't mean that belongs to said person or that it'll decrease your chances of being jipped just because there is a pic.

I agree with you josh. It sounds like a good idea, but there is really no way to enforce it. If someone wants to be deceitful then that is what they will do.

ya
I mean i'd prefer a pic and location too just so you can see what your buying and know where they are. but when it boils down to it there's no effective way to ensure the seller is legit aside from knowing several people that can vouch for them and have seen the item in question.

Whatever, You could enforce it if you wanted to... other site's delete 4sale threads after 1 day if pictures, and price are not posted. And when it comes to people being dishonest, yeah sure they could put a fake picture up. Or a real picture and just never mail it. But if the admin goes after people that are dishonest and backs up the members. Along with people sticking with paypal, and not sending money orders or checks through the mail, You would dramatically reduce inconvenience and fraud. But hey, your not gunna listen to one guy right? After all who is at risk?

It's not the admins job to go after the seller or insure the buyer. This is a forum, not ebay.
The admin would have no way to "go after people". There isn't any way to know where the person even is. You can post up items for sale from a public access computer that you happen to commute by on occasion. And if the seller does use the same computer each time the admin can't make the person give you your money back. The best they can do is lock the account and/or block the ip address, but even then you've already been ripped and the person can just use a different pc and alias.
The only sure fire way to assure your not being ripped is to do the transaction in person.
If you don't do it in person it is better to use paypal and never send cash, check, or M/O. But even that is entirely up to the seller and buyer agreement. Who's going to stop you from mailing the seller cash? Buyer must be aware of the risks and take the necessary precautions to ensure his/her transaction is going to be legit.

If you see an ad in the sunday paper and you call the person up and send them money but they never send you the product you can't sue or blame the News Paper Editor for not making the guy send you your stuff. You gotta be responsible and take your own precautions. If you think something isn't right then don't send money.
People get ripped off every day whether it be on a forum, Ebay, or some other online store, hell sometimes even in person. It still all boils down to Buyer beware.
