I don't know if it's silly for me to ask but i'm a silly person so i'll ask anyway.
Has anyone considered that one of the Seller requirements be that you have a Location listed? Either on the left side in the profile or on the sales page itself. I See A LOT of posts that might say Local pickup only but you always have to ask wth is local.
This also gives the buyer a little more confidence in the seller. If someone doesn't want me to know where they live, i feel hesitant to buy from them.
I realize there are privacy rules and you have the right to conceal private information if you don't wish to share it, but if your going to sell an item on a public forum it's a good idea to let people know where the item is located.

The difference is that if someone wants to make quick money and rip someone off they most likely won't stick around for 6 months and do a lot of posting to do it. It's not a fool proof system, it just reduces the chances.
If someone you've known for a while comes to your house and tries to sell you something and the next day a total stranger walks up and tries to sell you the same thing. which one do you think is more trustworthy?
