I've sold alot of things here on PT.net, and I'm an honest seller. But I can be the first to tell you that if the Picture rule were to be inforced, then I'd quit selling. Here's why....I don't own a f*cking Cell Phone with a damn camera!!!! I hate cell phones. I have 5 phones next to my face all day here at work and I sure don't need one attached to my hip 24/7...so I can't whip up a picture of "said" product with my Nokia whenever I need to sell something. Second, I can admit that I'm not so technically inclined when it comes to uploading a picture to the PT.net site......I can take a pic with my digital camera, but I'm lost when you ask me to email it or post it in a thread. Sorry...my bad!! I just have better **** to do. I post ads in all my local traders like "Bargain Finder", "Coalfield Trader" and so on......and to this day...no one ever calls me and says..."Hey buddy email me a picture or I ain't buying it"

I don't give a **** if you buy it or not! It gripes me that people whine about it all! If you don't like not having a pic, then don't buy the product. Just quit bitching about it!

making a rule about posting pics isnt really realistic... not everyone has that option. now if the person says i have pics give me your email... yes i agree you should have to post the pics... it is a little stuipd to post up your email everytime you wanna see something when pics are available. as far as HAVING to post pics though like they do on LS1Truck... thats just askin to much of ppl who dont have access to posting them like Torque Wrench, i have delt with him on a number of occasions and will continue to deal with him cause he is a good guy to do business with

Thanx Bill,

Im not saying that admin should hunt down and lynch bad sellers. Im just saying, That say if a guy in California buys a supercharger from a guy in Florida for $5k. Seller just vanishes and buyer is screwed. Admin could Help buyer with taking the right steps and supply all documentation of transaction for police records. This appers to be a touchy subject here, I dont see what the big deal is. And this is not a whine it is as the thread states A SITE SUGGESTION!!! I would be buying stuff left and right, and im sure there are at least a handfull of other guys that would too, but I wont buy anything from anybody unless I can see it. I resale to allot of people near were i live.
I understand that Torque wrench has a good rep, but what about the new sellers. I garantee you if i put a set of used headers for sale here that at least 15 people would request pictures. And I wouldnt sell it without pics. unless it was a steal.

The site has a trader rating for a reason. Pics mean nothing in the end ethier way if you have to have a pic ask for it, if not do your thing.

Of course its a suggestion and all suggestions are appreciated.
All we are doing is saying it's not really worth making mandatory because its not going to change anything. All enhancements have to be weighed and determined if its worth the effort and in this case it's not.
The reason a seller can not delete a classified is so that it remains on the site for the buyer to print for their own records if need be so the site IS helping the customer supply documentation. The forum admin has no way to prove the buyer paid or the seller shipped. money transactions aren't done through the forum. This is why Paypal is always suggested. If you use paypal you will have a record of your transaction. And as TouchofEvil stated, the admins have added a trader rating to help keep track of someones rep. If you want to buy from someone that has 0 or negative ratings that's entirely up to you to take that risk.
I don't know why your getting upset just because it's not being made mandatory we've already proven that just because there is a pic does NOT mean the item exists. Feel free to post up more suggestions if you think of any but don't be discouraged if it doesn't get implemented.

I've suggested that the seller have a location on their profile, but even that can be faked so it wouldn't be worth the time to enforce as it wouldn't increase buyer/seller security.
The only sure fire way to keep from being ripped when buying something posted on a forum is to arrange a local pickup and just make the transaction in person and get a receipt.

i just hate when something is for sale and there isnt a pic. i have sold a few things on here before. and i always include several good pics. and lots of info. bottom line is. nobody is going to buy something they cant see. and it usually sells faster if when they go on the thread the pics are there. not the links to the pics... but the actual pictures. so for those of you who are selling stuff here or in any forum. post pics in the thread and see how fast it goes. not everybody wants to open all the links to see 6 pics of one thing. the authenticity of the pics is a whole another can of worms. i would think it would be harder to email 10 people pics. instead of having them readily available. posting pics is easier then emailing.

It is the responsibility of a potential buyer to take precaution to avoid ripoffs. This includes but is not limited to emails, reputation and pictures and the use of some service like "paypal".

It is not the seller's responsibility to do anything other than list an asking price. It may behoove the seller to list location, actual pictures and other details but it is not a requirement.

What is so difficult? If you see an item for sale that has no pics and you are interested, ask the seller for a pic or any other detail. If you are not completely at-ease just pass on it.

Obviously you having been in the F/S section for a while. People buy things all the time without actually ever seeing it. I've personally sold items without a picture and not had any problems.
Granted I'd rather see it first but that doesn't always happen.
