Yeah the 06-07 classic has the "hd" hood no matter if it's 1500 2500 or 3500

 

from what ive seen all 03-05 have same hood 1500/2500/3500 hd or not. I have never seen a 05 the the raised hood from factory

 

You are correct. Now the 99-02 2500 and 3500 come with a raised hood too but not on the 1500

 

For the 99-02 style, only the 2001-2002 2500HD and 3500HD had the raised hood from the factory

For 03-07 classic, The 2005 2500HD and 3500HD first received the raised hood from the factory. In 2006 all model Silverado's received the raised hood.

When using the 05 up HD hood you need to use the matching Grille as the hood line across the grill is different.

 

hmm i guess i could be wrong but just had a 05 dmax in our shop and it had same hood as my 05 1500

 

I should of clarified it a little better but yeah what fastbrick said. I've got an 06 hood with my 03 grille and it doesn't look bad but an 06 grille with 03-05 hood is no bueno

 

for sure, i bought a 06 that had hit a deer, they put the old style hood on it and kept the 06 grille it was horrible

talked to a co worker that is very knowledgeable on dmax, he says he thinks that some 05 came with 03-04 and some came with 06 style like almost was a midway year thing. Would kinda make sense being we had a 05 here that had the 03-04 style

 

A co worker of mine has an 05 2500HD Dmax that's never been wrecked. It has the raised hood. I have also looked at several for sale in my area.

Ironically not many 05 HD's had towing mirrors. They were more common in 06-07.

 

learn something new everyday i suppose! next time we get one that has older hood im gonna check the mfg date see if its a early date or something
