Default Procharger Project Research

ok ya'll should know my setup.. but in case you dont.
I just dropped a new 403 motor in the Bloo Blurr.. crank is pinned, TEA heads
9.5:1 compression, forged rotating assembly.
new roller rockers.. tbss intake and tbss 90 mm tb w\xlink
The plan for this motor all along was to be procharged.. hence the lower compression.
I was also going to spray the procharger, but that may not happen.. still VERY undecided about that.. but i digress.
So what im looking for is advice on my project.. where is the best place to get a GREAT INCREDIBLE HOLY SH** deal on a procharger..
if i just find the head unit, how much are brackets.. what kind of piping can i use.. what the difference in intercoolers.. do i NEED a three core intercooler? would i need Meth to cool it all down? (i have no clue on meth, so im asking)
I know you can get the head units in unpolished or polished, but is it possible that you could powdercoat the headunit? would it dammage it?
I found one headunit on ebay for 300 bucks, but its got a broken impeller.. not sure if its cost effective to get it, powdercoat it since its apart, and send it in to procharger for a rebuild.
I am also running 42# injectors , not sure if those will work or if have to go bigger... im hoping i dont NEED bigger right away.
One more note.. im still working out the fuel system at the rails.. fuel pressure being a big problem for me.. its 70 psi.. i know what i gotta buy, i just gotta buy it.
So.. LS1 Community, help me out.. give me some pointers, educate the old man...

Mikey

just my .02 and I know theres tons of people that know way more than me but here is my experience:

I paid 3k for a whole kit polished, perfect, complete. You can find head units on the corvette forums. Get the biggest intercooler you can find and depending on your goals, skip the p1sc if you can and go right to the D1sc. Theres been a strong learning curve for me. I procharged a bone stock 4.8 at 9psi and destroyed the motor in 3 mos. Built a new one, turned the boost up a bit and toasted the trans on the first dyno pull. Got all the issues worked out (forged 5.7ish, PRC heads, performa built, trac loc, 14psi), and slicks and then discovered the limitations of the P1sc. At 11psi, no problems. when I went to a 3.4" pulley (14psi) I started over clocking the p1, eating belts, broke the pulley on a water pump and IAT's went to 260. truck layed over at half track. Did meth, still wouldn't keep it cool and I was afraid to go to 14's on the meth b/c the motor would be totally dependant on it. My procharger makes a LOT of heat. So forgo that problem with a big intercooler and meth if possible. On my 70 pound injectors, I'm at 125% duty cycle at 6300. Truck makes 610 to the wheels.

To sum it up,
Do the d1sc if possible (or stay within the limitations of the head unit)
Ebay intercooler or something similiar (prochargers race unit is 1300 bucks ebay is 150 to 250 bucks and you can buy silicone and bends on ebay or one of the other sights
Get a good fuel system (I run two pumps)
Get a bead roller for aluminum tubing (best 300 bucks I spent)
make a goal and watch for "mission creep"
figure on Good tires cause nothing else will do (I blow my street tires off at 70)
Get a seperate seat belt for your ***** cause it'll leave em in the parking lot
**MOST IMPORTANT** get a specfuckingtaculiar tune. It MUST be spot on. Anything less, You'll be posting parts for sale.
Get ready to surprise a lot of people and have fun doing it.

Borg Warner S475
with a turbo, I bet you could shoot to close to 800 hp. the engine is ready. no belt, no pulley mod for belt contact, no custom pulleys for big belts....just food for thought AND the head unit is under $700 and should run forever...just saying

yeah i hear that, but im not a fan of turbos.. i cannot give a reason for it, i just dont like turbos..
im not sure if i want to\ care about hitting 800 HP .. my goal was over 500 and a 12s track time... im still weighing the options.

The D1 will get you the numbers your looking for, track times in the 12's for sure.. If the unit you saw for 300 is a D1 and is the self contained unit, that is a good deal.. Procharger will redo it for you for about 1500.. Like stated the ebay IC's will work fine.. I have probably 2600-2800 in my whole kit, I basically redid it the way I wanted to do it..
