i finished my efan install yesterday
Id like to thank Fast4popper, Moze from ls1truck, sprayed99, Tony from collision revision, badass03ss, 616 of 933, Nelson performance, and anyone else I left out for your help and suppport.
I started with my St. Aubin's wire harness. and my painted set of 05 efans.
i needed a 3/8th socket, an 8 mm socket, a reg screw driver, a 7 mm socket, a 3/8 nut, various zip ties, some electrical tape, and a wire tap, and a few other wrenches
an oh, 1 c clamp.
I removed the battery.
I took off the air intake tube.
i put the c clamp on the belt and the water pump pulley to keep it from spinning. i put an adjustable wrench on the nut behind the fan, and tapped it with a hammer.
Voila.. came right off.
i removed the two bolts holding the fan shroud on, and took out the fan and the shroud.
i then carefully placed my new efans in place, careful not to scratch them cuz they were just painted.

Then I put the St. Aubin's harness in place. i started by removing the pcm using "mr p's " pcm removal instructions posted by Sprayed99. I put my lead in pin 42 of the BLUE connector. It took a bit of work to get it in there, but it finally went in all the way.
I put the pcm back together and remounted it, as i was done with it.

Next, moved to the wire loom next to the plastic battery box , which is next to the alternator. I am talking about the loom to the LEFT of this box.
You can see it here, behind the box, with a lump in it covered with electrical tape. (more about why the box has tape on it later....


In that loom, I tapped into the GREEN wire using a wire tap I had for 18g wire. this is the AC turn on lead.
I then turned to the fan wires themselves. I put flat blade connectors on them until my GM connectors show up next week. I put them on the fans, not sure of which is pos, and which is neg until i test them.

I bundled the relayed and extra loom infront of the washer bottle and secured them with zip ties away from the radiator for now until i find a neater way to secure it all.



Then, the most important and trying part.. POWER....
next to the alt, where that red plastic box is, there is a bracket. I used a bolt from there to ground the harness. I used an "eyelet' connector I got with my St. Aubin harness. The last connection was power. my last 'eyelet' connector wouldnt fit under the battery terminal, so i had to look at putting it inside that red plastic box.
However, that 3/8th inch bolt would not come out. i actually broke the lid off that box, which is why its taped, and cracked the box. I am going to look to buy a new one soon. What i did do was go get another 3/8th inch nut, and put the connector over the bolt, and then put the new nut over it and tighten it down.
This worked perfectly. I just had to alter the box cover slightly to accomodate the additional cable.
I put some tape over it to hold the cover on it for now.

and there we have it.. efans.. I started the truck and turned on the air, but hitting the snow flake button, so this appeared:

and the fans did NOT come on.
I turned it off:

and they DID come on.. I dont know whats up with that.. but ive noticed that snowflake never gave me AC in the past,.. maybe my controls are goofy.

i noticed the passenger side came on with the AC on, so I waited for the engine to come to temp.. and both fans came on.. but they were blowing the wrong way.
i turned the truck off. I went to each fan and reversed the pos and neg. Started the truck up, and the fans blew the right way.
At idle, the AC blew much better. I havent tested the mpg or additional HP yet.. ill report those back this week..

I do believe I am the first one with custom painted Efans..
The frame is body color, the fans themselves are metallic silver in color.
Just one more project finished on my own.. woooooooo

 

Do you fell a power difference?

 

yep.. i dont have numbers to give you , but i can definately tell there is more there.

Looks very Nice bro. There is a post you can use under the fuse box for Power, If you dont like were its at. Hides nice. If you take off the plastic box, there should be like 3 posts. It should be the one closest to the fire wall. If unsure use a test light. But were its at works too.

 

oh really? i didnt know there was a power post under there! sweet!
ill have to get that box painted up.. a good excuse to remove it LOL

Yeah, no prob. If your on the driver fender, its the one on the right. One appears to be dead to the test light. One is a neg I believe, and then one is Pos. I hid My fuses and relays under there too.

 

I hate that they didnt do E fans until 05!! So stupid!!!
