big cubed motors use more oil get used to it. its never guna be like your 4.8/5.3 that consumed 0 oil. i consume about 3/4 quart every 1k miles and theres absolutely nothing wrong with my motor(besides a shitty designed pcv system)

your motor shouldnt be consuming any oil if built properly. your ring tolerances could be the reason. also what are you running for PCV or are you using breathers? i would ditch any PCV that you might be using and run two breathers

if you continue to use oil after swapping to breathers then you have a choice to make. continue to run the truck and add oil or pull motor out and rebuild it.

my 408 had no oil consumption issues

I went from 5w30 to 10w30 and it has helped out with consumption and noise.

well iam useing a sythetic...im wondering if i went to a conventional oil for a bit like castrol gtx until the enigne if completely broken in. i'll try the breathers anyway. i dont know why it would use oil anyway becasue is used the best parts i could find..li used the plasma rings.

i used 20w50. alot of strokers recomend that oil. i wouldnt run syn till about 2k to 3k in miles. using it during breakin isnt the best idea around

best of best parts dont mean nothing if it was installed wrong
