Default 2014up Silverado Speed Sensor Locations

Note: The following are different for a reason

2014up Silverado 4WD - Where is the Speed Sensor that controls the Speedometer Located?

2014up Silverado 2WD - Where is the Speed Sensor that controls the 6L80e shifting?

Thank you,
Tony

Input output speed sensors are bolted on the THECM.

Thank you.

So it is not located on the tail-shaft on a 2WD or the TC on a 4x4?

Is there any speed sensor located on the rearend of a 2WD?

There is a speed sensor on ouput of the transfer case in a 4wd, and nothing on the 2wd tailhousing whether its car truck or whatever... oss reads the speed of the output shaft, which is same as the speed sonsor would read so its redundabt...

As a side note there are speed sensors at each wheel, that can be used for speedometer signals, as well as for abs/traction control, but typically the vss comes from the oss and is adjusted by the ecm for the gear ratio, and uses the wheel speed sensors as a rationality check...

Then what someone told me might not apply and thus make my project a little easier.

This is why I am asking those in the know to be 100% sure - before I jump in with both feet.

Anyways, I was told:

a. The Silverado has one kind of sensor at the differential

b. The Corvette Differential has a different kind of sensor

And the two sensors send different types of codes to the ECM and thus they are not interchangeable.

Then something about how the newer ECM need all these readings to allow the engine and trans to work as the factory intended.

Putting these newer power-plants in a 60's vehicle without every sensor that came from the factory Silverado - would cause the ECM to go into a loop or shut down/crash. At least that is what I was told.

FYI - I want to use the factory truck interment panel and maybe the steering column too. Hoping to have cruise control, paddle shifting and maybe even radio controls at my finger tips. GRIN

The ecm doesnt care what sensor it has so long as it is told through the calibration what sensor its using... thevettes and trucks use the same control modules with differemt operating system calibrations... its all in the code in the computer...

That is why I sent Blackbear an email to aks them if they will be able to flash / tune my setup to go into the UV231 Project.
However, I have not heard back from them yet.

FYI - I did just receive an email this morning from a transmission parts supplier who says the cases are NOT different between the two.
And that he is not 100% sure but just maybe a sensor might read off of those holes in the drum of the output shaft.
He recommends that I check into that when switching out the output shaft.

They are correct the holes in the output shaft assembly are essentially the reluctor wheel for the output shaft speed sensor, the newer style have lugs on the outside(at least in the 4wd versions) and come with the iss/oss harness that hasa different oss sensor with a step in it to clear the lugs. The vette and 4wd trucks use the same case, 2wd 6l80s have a hole in the back if the case....

The rear of the vette/4wd case, on 2wd one of the divets at 6 and 12 oclock to the shaft are open

Here is a 2wd case...

YES - My guess is that those two holes on the 2WD are needed to lubricate the yoke and return fluid back to the trans pan. Something not needed with a Corvette trans.
