Start off with a clay bar to help remove any contaminants in the paint. Then use a polish to remove the scratches and swirls. Then put a good wax on there. If you are looking at stuff local, meguiars will be your best bet as you can get most of there products at a store. If you want to order, there are a number of products you can try that will produce great results. Also, no need to actually buff in wax. The wax just needs to be applied, you can buff the polish though as it needs to be worked in and broken down. What type of buffer is it, dual action or the grinder type? Have you used it before?

I think its dual action. I never had done to buff on my truck. it would be first time. All I need make my truck loook super shine and remove some scratch, swirl etc and keep paint coat look great.

I'd start with a clay bar, then I use Mequiars' ColorX(black truck). I use a coat of #7 polish, then a coat of Gold Class wax applied by machine, removed by hand. I was able to get rid of some of the scratches left by the previous owner, and it gives the truck a very slick finish(slick looking, and to the touch)

I used Meguiar's NXT Generation wax, it still looks decent 4 months later...I don't have that deep wet look from the polish anymore though

I use eagle 1 spray wax. Works for me just fine, and smells good too.
