I use Meguiars Quick Wax. It's a spray on Carnuba wax, comes out great. And I hand polish. More enjoyment, less stress than using the buffer. Just take your time and it'll come out great. Post pics when you're done.

Use Meguiars Gold class wax. It is by far the best and lasts the longest. If you have never waxed it before you might want to clay bar it. That way you start with a clean slate.

I hand wax my truck with Meguiars Gold Class every 3 months. I usually go in this order:
Roof
Hood
Grille and tailgate
Passenger and Driver's side.
I also highly recommend using microfiber towels to wipe the wax off. Every 2 weeks or so I go over the entire truck with Meguiars Quik Wax spray. It keeps my paint smooth until the next hand wax.

Here are some tips for the layman.
Never use a bucket with water and soap to wash your ride. Sand and particles are suspended in the water. while you are washing, you are turning into the Swirl Monster!!!!!
Use the spray soap and a microfiber mit. Wet the vehicle down fully from top to bottom. Wet the mit, spray with soap and wash only the body and windows small sections at a time. Then rinse the body and the mit to remove suspended particles and sand. Continue untill you are done.
Do not wash near the rocker panels or the wheels with the mit. You will embedd particles which you will later gring into the clear coat.
For the tire/wheel areas use a narow soft brush with the same application of soap and water.
Never use a chamois or those super absorber towels. This drying process removes wax/polishes very quickly. Use only a rubber blade to remove excess water. Finish the drying with only microfiber towels. If you drop one of the microfiber towels on the ground while drying, don't reuse it. Send it to the dirty towel container.
Now here is the true secret of polishing. First coat the body with a glaze. Use a thin liquid type. Leave it on for at least 4 hours. I know this seems silly, but it is very important. If posssible overnight is the best technique.
After you remove the glaze, reglaze. Leave it on for 1 to 4 hours and remove with a microfiber towel. Note: only apply the glaze with a damp microfiber towel. Now it's time to wax. I use 3M yellow high tech was. It is the purest carnubba on the market. Forget all of the superior claims of high tech this and that along with fancy labels. It's the carnubba! That is what does the work. Apply this with an orbital buffer using only a foam pad.
Lightly spray the pad with Windex (very lightly) then add the wax in a circular motion on the pad. Begin application. Use the buffer until the wax seems to evaporate. Continue this in small body sections. You will see that the foam pad will not build up any wax on it. It all goes into the paint. Next take a microfiber towel lay it on the body and set the buffer with the faom pad still in place onto the towel. Begin to buff. This process is the process I use when showing my Corvettes @ NCRS functions.
It is unbeatable.
