Default washing question

i plan on washing/ polishing/ and waxing the truck today. first wax of the year. anyways i would NEVER do this unless i was waxing the truck right after but has anyone ever used dish soap to wash a car. i heard that it takes off the old wax but that you need to apply the wax right after. should i do this or just stick to regular car wash soap? thx

It's actually a great idea IF you're going to wax it after the wash. Go for it! It will strip any grease/grime/wax off of the truck and give you a clean pallet. Run over it with a claybar to get the rest of the trash out, then wax away!

That's what I usually do when I'm going to wax mine.

Dish soap is made for dishes, not your paint.

Definately wash it in the shade at the coolest part of the day. Dawn strips wax well. Water spots are hard to get off after they dry on nonwaxed vehicles.

you can do it, and its an effective way to remove old wax. However, it will also dry out your trim and seals. In addition, if this is your 'first wax of the year' I'm doubting there is much wax on your paint at this point anyway. One last point, if you are going to be doing any defect removal via polishing the abrasives in your polish will remove and wax previously on the paint.

just use a car wash soap , unless u eat off ur truck dont use dish. I suggest everyone on the site that reads this, go to meguiars site and fill out there RX section and see what it says for care.
