Default Ugly Trailer Hitch

The factory trailer hitch is ugly, and it sits down too low, and I have hit it twice already, the bracket that holds the trailer wireing is welded on crooked.

Do they make a 10,000 pound rated hitch that sits up tight to the bottom of the bumper?

I debadged the tailgate and took the 4X4 stickers off.

It makes the back of the truck look a lot cleaner, but I need to do something about the hitch.

I want to raise the reciever up to the bottom of the bumper, and I'm thinking about hideing the trailer wireing behind the license plate.

Here is my hitch it's rated for 10,000 lbs but I don't remember who makes it, it has been 6 years since I got it.

I'm trying to find out the same thing. I have the same hitch but don't really need 1 for 10,000lbs. Maybe try a hidden rollpan hitch behind the factory bumper and use a flip up tag bracket? Does anyone know if that'll work with the stock bumper?

The only thing I see wrong with that is the receiver for the hitch will have to clear the bumper. You may have to use one of those extensions, but then I am sure you will not be able to pull as much weight.

The roll pan is the best way to go as far as looks go, but as a daily driver and work truck it won't be long before the roll pan gets hit and cracked.
My last truck the front and back bumpers got hit hard, one of my employees did not latch the hitch on my utility trailer and it poped of fthe ball, the trailer jack hit the bumper hard, If I had a rollpan it would have ruined the rollpan and the tailgate.

I can weld and it won't be hard to raise the factory hitch like this, it's just hard to find the time.

You can see how many time the trailer has contacted this bumper, a roll pan would be dead. I was thinking about getting a rear view camera, to aviod hitting my bumper like that.

The hidden hitch on the stock bumper is a good idea also, and you should be able to have one made.

But the hidden hitch brings the trailer a lot closer to the truck, I need to be able to open the tailgate with the boat being towed. I race my boat and while waiting to be launched I sit on the tailgate under an umbrella( I know sounds gay)I Cant take the sun while wearing all the safety gear.

Also with the trailer that close to the truck, if the tail gate is not latched and it falls open it smacks the bow of the boat

I made the boat trailer longer with this setup.

it also help it fit in the garage.

I could make a longer hitch that slide into the reciever, but
the bottom line is I want to keep the bumpers, because unfortunately they get bumped.
