thunder, I have a belltech kit as well. I checked on the intructions and the skinny part of the shim faces the rear of the truck, and the fat part faces the front.

I DONT like the handling in the corners, damn rear end bounces on every little bump.
If the axle is on top of the leaf, the fat part of the shim points to the back of the truck and vice versa if the axle is on the bottom of the spring. That's the rule of thumb.
