Default those of you with a 2/4 drop

how hard does your truck ride?
and how much clearance do you have for your bump stops?
my front rides prety soft but the back end is stiff as hell.
any way to fix this?

It is a rough *** ride, but I'm used to it. Just recently noticed how rough it was when I went for a ride in a new E500 Mercedes the other day. From frame to the bumpstomps supplied with the Hotchkis setup I have about 1 inch clearance I think. It isn't much I know that, but it's so damn stiff in the back it's ok.
The front is really soft, or maybe it just feels soft because the back is so damn stiff. I think it got a little worse with the Cal Tracs.
I suppose you could just get softer shocks for the back?

well I got a beltech 2/4 drop, and put it on this weekend. it came with a set of beltech nitro shocks, which I installed. my originall shocks had 70,000 miles on them, so I figured I would go ahead and put these on.

also on the shims, if you had any. which way did you insert them into the leafs?
from the back or the front. in other words where is the fattest part of the shim supposed to be?
and the thing sits low, real low! I will get a pic of it and post up here in a while, but it sits real low, and sits almost perfectly level. its actually a little lower in the back.
thanks,
Daniel

yea my rear was real stiff too. thats why i raised mine back up. i think thats just how it is with lowering springs. has anybody noticed that when you have a lowered truck your shocks wear out really fast.

Ever since I got my truck back out and started driving it again I've noticed how stiff the Hotchkis setup really is. It's worth it for the handling though.

My front springs are very liveable - the back was stiffer than I expected.
I spoke with Hotchkis at length.
They rec the IAS - they have a model made for a 2/4 drop.
I bought a set from Summit
and got them installed - but have not driven the truck - been out of town
I will be driving it this week.
On the shim - I will have to double check - but I remember it points forward
the thin part to the front and fat at the back - mine was attached to my new leafs.

thats what I thought on the shims, MIne oare in backwards, I will have to go out there tonight and flip them around.
will those shocks work with a Beltech drop?
I DONT like the handling in the corners, damn rear end bounces on every little bump.
