Slick Talk!?

DRs will net a slightly quicker ET when they hook well vs slicks. If we are talking about 4wd launches then DRs are the way to go. You will dead hook even on the street and slicks aren't fun on the street if you are driving more than just to race. If we are talking about a 2wd that is having major issues hooking on good street tires then yes slicks is a better idea.
$1100 is way too much to be paying for 4 drs. Nitto NT-01 in my area for a 17" wheel is $191 each retail. Which I usually get $100 off any 4 tires. So lets see that is about $700 for 4 drs not 1100$ and drs last about double slicks in my experience.

Because 4 DR will be somewhat streetable. Also on the street you can hook hard as hell with out a burnout. Also You would typically get a set of skinnies for the front if you went with two slicks.
Slicks are fairly fool proof but you typically loose a few mph and .1-.3 on a slick if you can get the radial to hook the same.

I wouldn't go with nittos either. No personal experience but I haven't talked to anyone who has been impressed. Not in person at least. A few online have had good luck. But with 4wd you would have much better luck with the nitto then someone trying to launch on two of them!
