i have had my fair share of jl amps and i love them! best on the market in my opinion.
I would check into the new JL W1's they just came out. i have heard them and they have great sound quality. very crisp and clean sound. best of all they are very reasonable priced. my stereo shop said he could get 2 12's under my back seat so i am sure a box could be built w/o losing a lot of leg room.
if i was in your shoes i would do a pair of the W1's off of a JL 500/1 amp!
Just my .02

That's a nice enclosure 2toneblown
The new JL Audio 12w1v2s sound pretty good. I just got a set in stock and broke em in a bit. I have em in a sealed eclosure of about 1.25 cu.ft/ea and they sound good. One thing I like about JL subs is that they have a very nice low end extension. The W6 and W7s are insane!!!
Diamond Audio DS3 subs are very shallow and handle 200w RMS and sound very clean. They don't hit as low as the JLs but tend to be more punchy so for rock and metal or even Jazz I would choose the Diamonds over the JLs. For Rap, new style rock, Country and stuff with deeper bass I would choose the JLs.
The JL Audio amps work very well and sound greta BUT are power hogs and will put a strain on your charging system in GM trucks. I only have a 500/1 and 300/4 in my Z71 and even with 2 caps and a 1000CA Interstate battery I still have problems with headlights dimming and current draw.
For budget minded people the Diamond Audio D3 series amps work really well on subs and are a lot cheaper than the 500/1. You can get the D3600.1 for under $400 and it will produce 600w RMS at a 1ohm load and comes with a bass ****. I had 2 of these in my T/A with some Diamond Audio M612d2s and they ROCKED! Very tight and clean bass.
The new Precision Power amps are actually more detailed sounding than the JL amps but not quite a ballsy and in your face but they do not lack in output. It's just if you listen to a good drum track you can hear more distinct details everytime the stick hits the drum. They are priced very nicely but are BUTT UGLY and huge. I would adive taking the ugly grey plastic pieces and leave it with just the plexi showing. It shaves off 4"+ of total length. LOL

I know this is probably a stupid question, but I listen to a lot of trance and house on a daily basis and I was wondering what would be a good setup for this type of music (that is if anyone knows.)
I currently have a set of Alpne type X's in the truck, and I have already blown one and the other one is on it's way out... They're just not loud enough for me... People have told me that subs would make up for it, but I dunno...
I am asking for the best setup known for this type of music, spare no expense... I might have a guy to do some trade work for this summer, he owns a couple stereo shops so I should be able to get a few top quality pieces outta him...
Thanx in advance, oh and Scream, sorry to hijack your thread, but I figure this is the best place to find some answers...

I'm not real familiar with house or trance music. Can you point me to a place that I can listen to a sample of it??
If so I could possibly help you out some. Chances are good that you just need to buy subs with more power handling and put a ton more power to them and be careful with your equalization. Also distance from the subs can play a big part in how the subs sound. If you're trying to get LOW LOW bass in an RCSB you're barking up the wrong tree as you simply sit too close to the sub to get the full effect of a 40hz note.
