I finally got a digital camera and can posts of this truck that I am building!
It has a fully boxed stock frame with all rectangular steel tube crossmembers, a mustang II front end, 4-link rear suspension with coilovers, 8.2 10 bolt rear with 3.36 Richmond gears and an Auburn posi. It has four wheel power disc brakes (drilled and slotted rotors), power rack and pinion steering with a flaming river tilt steering column, and a modified 5.3l engine. The engine is a 2001 with a comp cam (222/222 on a 112 lsa .566/.566), 30lb/hr injectors, ported TB, fabricated coated LT's, no emissions, electric fan, ram air, Th-350 with 2300 stall and shift kit. This truck started off its life as a plain 1/2-ton rcsb with a three window cab. I cut off the roof and welded on a deluxe roof with the corner windows and also installed a custom firewall. To save a lot of weight, It has a full fiberglass front end, fabricated aluminum wheel wells and radiator suppport, aluminum radiator and gas tank, fiberglass rear fenders, and a much lighter s10 bench seat rather than the stock steel-framed one. Stock weight of the truck is about 3600 lbs and so far I have removed or replaced about 400 lbs of steel and worthless items. Sorry for so much info, but I have been working on this truck off and on for 5 years and this is my second restoration of it and I just love it!

Looks great! What brand MII crossmember did you go with? Do you have AC on the truck and if so did the compresser hit the crossmember?

A few answers:

-color is 2007 Corvette LeMans blue metalic

-The complete mustang II front end is made by TCI and has al tubular control arms and crossmember.

-No A/C, even though I am in Texas. If I was to use the stock 5.3L compressor and bracket, it would hit the passenger frame rail by a few inches. I don't think I could have a/c even if I wanted it unless I relocated it or found an ultra compact compressor and made a custom bracket.

It does run and I can start it right up. That 222/222 .566/.566 112lsa cam sure sounds sweet at 850 rpm but I want to lower it closer to 600. I have not driven it yet do to not having finished adjusting my 4-link rear suspension and modifying the driveshaft. I can tell right now that it has a lot more suspension travel than the old leaf spring-straight axle setup. I just installed my front anti-sway bar today and I just know it will ride smooth and tight. The ride height is now about 5" lower in the front and 7" lower in the back, but these trucks sat pretty high stock.
