Default New pics 2/4 drop, Grille

Just got done installing the BT 2/4 drop last week and put the new grille in too. I like it all. But does anyone know how to get rid of the gap between the grille and the bumber, i like the way the grille looks but wish it could fit better...any help would be great. Let me know what ya think about all of it. Rims on the way and headers going on soon.

That looks like as close as your gonna get it. Is the bumper hitting your corners??? If you have the room to move it up, your going to have to shim up the two top mounts and bend the two bottom mounts up to compensate. I'm talking about the bumper mounting brackets at the front of the frame.

I was thinkin about trying to shim up the bumper, but the way the brackets are it's gonna be kinda hard...i guess i just need to get the bumper off and see what i can do. It's not hittin the corners, i have the room to shim it up, I just want it to look right and clean, no one else really notices it, but it bothers me, i'm sure you guys know what i'm talkin about.

Can you shoot me some larger pics (and possibly more) of your drop(agreif (at) nycap (dot) rr (dot) com). I have a similar wheelbase to yours and am looking for some more pics of it....especially the red!

Couple questions though.
1) Which kit did you get/what did it come with?

2) Did you install the drop yourself?

3) If so, any tools above and beyond the regular wrenches and hammers that you need? How long did it take?

4) Was there any component fabbing or jacking that you had to do. I know some people mention air jacking something out with the MG drop with <17" tires....which brings me to my next ?.

5) Any difference is the installation for a truck with 16's vs 18's?

6) Last but not least. How's the ride/handling?

Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance.

Andrew

I'm having the same prob with my 01 Seirra, I'm, doing the Denali conversion and I have a big gap too. I think I'm gonna cut the brackets off and re-weld them higher. I havnt decided yet, you could try that if you think you can.

Andrew,

1) I got the Belltech kit. It came with 2" spindles, 2" hangers, 2" shackles, and a carrier bearing re-locator kit.
2)YES!!
3)You need plenty of sockets, wrenches, a grinder, air chisel, i'm sure there's more
4)You have to either grind off or air chisel out the rivets on the stock hangers...it's a pain.
5)The kit i got required me to have 17" wheels, cause the front spindles wouldn't fit without them, I still had to grind off the bolt on the lower ball joint, if you have larger than 17's you shouldn't even have to do that. 16's you would have to go with a different spindle, which is more expensive and more work.
6)The ride is great, it tightened up the front quite a bit. The back is a lil stiff cause it's on the bumpstops and i have not trimmed them down. I may do a notch in the future cause i haul my bike with me a lot in the summer.

If you have anymore questions i'll be glad to answer them. I got my kit from on of our sponsers, and it was pretty reasonably priced compared to how much i have paid for drop kit in the past. Overall i think it took me about 15 hrs or so to do the job, i didn't work on it straight through though, i broke it up over a couple days cause i have another car to drive and i just wanted to take my time and make sure i wasn't rushed for time. I can get some more pics, just let me know what u want, and i am not sure how to interperet your e mail address so write it again. But if you have a long bed, you won't have to do the carrier bearing bracket cause that is only for a 2 piece driveshaft. Hope this helps. let me know if you need anything else.

I's sure i could do that, but i would run the risk of discoloring the chorme on the bumber, and that would be bad, real real bad. I am sure there is a way that i can shim it up and fab something, I have just about all the tools i need and have friends that can pretty much do whatever...We kind of have our own little monster garage going on.

You cant discolor the chrome on the bumper if you take the bumper off of the brackets. If I'm not mistaken there are 4 bolts that hold the bumper to the brackets and 2 more bolts that attatch the ends of the bumper to the side brackets. Thats it!! The brackets are welded to the frame. Get under the truck and check out what I'm talking about. If you have the tools, the ability and an extra hand or two it can easily be done. Just remember to measure the gap before you take the bumper off and do any cuttin!!
