Default new hood on the way....new wheels???

i ordered my new hood RAM AIR II from carhoods.com today...it's gonna be sweet (i hope)

i was at DISCOUNT TIRE earlier though getting a tire mounted and i priced some new toyo proxes and the widest they said to go on my current wheels was 285 for safety. i have american racing thrusters 17x8 and i was wondering if i should go with a wider 17" wheels or a 18x9.5 or something of that nature. whatta you guys think? i want something wider than the 275/60/17 comp T/As i have now. also, should i get a shorter side wall than the 275/60/17 once i lower the truck 2/4 or will the tall side wall still look ok since the truck isn't to low.

i've seen this hood on a few trucks and it looks good. I didn't know the price was so good on them. All the hoods i have priced were in the high 6's to 700 range. good choice. let us know how the fit is when you get it in.

it is fiberglass so some trimming will need to be done for a perfect fit. and i'm gonna open the scoops up for some air...there is a $100 rebate if you send them a digital pic of your ride with their hood on it within 120 days of recieving the hood.

i'm also considering this front bumper cover ....not sure how it would look with my faded black stock grille and new hood.

I never seen their site till you posted it. Now I know where to get my hood from. Typically, how much lighter is fiberglass vs steel? Yes, definantly open up the snorkels.

i kinda like that bumper cover, other than the fact you have to change fog lights. either way it will look good, just in my opinion not with a factory ride height truck. once lowered, excellent.... oh yea, might as well do the grill while your at it man.

well, i figured since i'm gonna lower it 2/4 it would look ok with that bumper cover. and i don't have fog lights anyways and i could use one of the 4" holes for some type of ram air tube for my volant. i kinda like one of the grilles SC has that looks like a GMC grille but for a chevy...but it's to expensive. i'll probably just have my stock grille painet white and find a good looking insert for it.

With the taller sidewall, its going to take a lil bit more to turn the tires, same as if you went from say 17s to 20s. The increase in rim height is probably more of a factor then upping +/- 10 in the aspect ratio.

But, i think dropping the sidewall height will be a good idea w/ the drop and all. Dropping it will make the rims look taller, so the smaller aspect ratio will help out with both performance and looks after the drop.

And for a pretty good front cover, try the one from Truckmaster. I think it looks pretty good, not too "rice" and all that. And, would look good with a set of like Billet Grille inserts, or the Speed/Street scene ones.
