Im getting new tires tomorrow and i have a couple of quick questions, hopefully they arent too dumb. Right now im running 255/70r16's and im looking for a different look.

In the near future i would like to lower the front about 2inchs to give my truck a little bit of a rake look, with that said, would it be stupid to run the 255/70 setup in the front, and can i fit 285/75r16's in the back?

Or can i even run a 285/75 setup? Lastly does anyone know of any good bridgestone or firestone tire that looks somewhat sporty but is a good all year round tire?

i was just thinking have a wider tire look would be a little different for me. Thanks for any help

 

A 285/60/16 tire would look really good and be over an inch wider.

I ran 275/60R16 Toyo Proxes s/t's on my truck with a 2/4 drop and they fit nice, they gave it the wider look you looking for. If I were you I would stick with the same size you have now or go with a 285/60r16 or 275/60r16.

The 275's were easier to come by and cheaper than the 285's were.

As far as the 285/75r16's, thats a 33" tall tire that a lot of people run on there 4x4's. I wouldn't put those on the rear unless you like the farm truck look.

 

you can run a 305 in the back i know and have it tucking, but im pretty sure you cant run a 305 in the front, im running 275/55/20 all around right now and im sitting at stock height and i dont have any peoblems with rubbing, but i think a 285/55/20 would rub....you would have to go to maybe a 45 or 40 series tire to have it not rub....im planning on running 305/45/20 in the back and 275/45/20 in the front when i get my new wheel/tire setup and drop my truck..i think staggered tires looks good, i dont think they look redneck farm-ish? lol

 

If it's 33" tall like said here, & the stockers are 30.5", IMO, I'd pass. I was told keep the difference at 3%.

But I like a truck that's relatively flat stance. If u like the look, that's fine. But if u just want a drop, why not do it thru supension, not tires? Plus, u won't need to cal. speedo, if that matters to you.

I wanted to fill out rear wheelwell, so I have 275/70 in rear & 255/70 in front. Ithink a wider tire is better than a taller tire. But it's an aspect raio thing. If u can get the width, w/. no height change, that'd be better.
If I had to do it again, I'da stayed w/. 255/70's on all 4, or all in a 275/70. Or whatever size, but equal. Why? Cause I like handling, & all 4 of same size would've improved that. It's not bad, just not as good as it could be. Hope that helps.

 

Well my final ratio was the 285/60r16 Goodyear Eagle GTII's. Have had some problems already, i took the truck to work and about 50-60mph the truck was shakier than ****. I took the truck back and figured maybe they tried to get out of balancing them , turns out i have a bad tire so im waiting on a new tire to see if it fixes the problem.
