stock mine was 255/70/16s, I put 285/60/18s on esky's on all 4s. I couldn't believe how bad it killed performance, gas mileage too. I would guess the combo of increased rolling resistance and weight did it. I'm thinking of going back to a stock tire/wheel combo myself. I like the GMC aluminum 17s.

That being said, I think you're idea of skinnier tires up front isn't a bad idea at all. Did you end up with the 285s on all 4 corners?

He put 285/60/16 on his truck. Thats actually shorter then what he had.

You won't lose any performance.. The shorter tire will actually be like putting a lower gear ratio in your truck and should accelerate a little faster.

gentlemen ive still got a problem, im having a good about of bouncing in the truck at about 60mph with these 285/60r16s, should i go to a different shop to get a second balancing opinion, or should i return the tires and go with the 255/70r16s which is what is stock for the truck

I'd go get them balanced somewhere else. Then you might look into the driveshaft and or brakes.

Default Eagle GTII - Shaking the truck

I have had the same shaking problem at 60 MPH on my 06 Silverado from 275x45x20, Goodyear Eagle GTII. They were new tires so I immediately returned to the tire shop and changed to Michelins.
