headlight oxidation?

Default headlight oxidation?

i just bought a set of headlights with clear corners for my truck and was wondering if i had a couple coats of clear put on them would it stop the oxidation that my stock headlights got?

Prob would yellow, oxidize faster with clear on them. You can restore your lights like new again, takes a little time and effort.

I did my taillights in an hour and a half. Wet sanded 1500-3000 then polished with a machine and polishing compound. they look insanely good.

The clear coat will help preserve them, just not sure how much extra time you will get out of them.

I have polished head lights and tail light and on a few cases even put clear on them. The ones with clear coat seem to maintain there shine much longer with minimal maintenance.

I would assume this is because the clear coat is sealing the plastic and adding a layer of UV protection.

Yes, a couple of coats of clear will provided added protection. In my experience their life basically doubles to triples.

i dont really have that many rock chips on my truck right, none on the stuff i had painted 4 month ago, and just a few on the lip of the hood.
