if you just cut & tap, you'll only have on/off with the blinker. this method looks better, i think, & is what i'm fixin to do after i'm done with all my work leading up to Easter

its the same as what i was thinking, he is just making the other socket fit the blinker bulb instead of the DRL light.... I will wire it the same and prolly modify the socket a different way to make the 3157 bulb fit

a 3157 already fits in the 4114 socket, i've been running them for almost 4 years, now. GM swapped from 3157s to 4114s to fix a voltage problem, but they're almost the same bulb

the reason you re-wire it is because the DRL only has 2 leads (high filament & ground). you add the wiring from the parking lamp socket because it has 3 conductors (high filament for blinking, low filament for park, and ground). you could even finagle the brown socket to fit the DRL hole, but it don't seat the way it should

ahh i see... thank you for clearing up the facts... So i can just run the DRL socket after adding a wire to it for the extra filament?

Im going to see if my auto parts store carries the new socket to hold the 3157 bulb with the 3rd wire already on it so i can hopefully just cut and splice. Im not the best with electronics lol!! Thanks for the help Zebra!!!!!

that's almost exactly what that thread i posted tells you how to do - modify the DRL socket to run the 3-wire setup. that way, it'll use both bulb filaments & the socket will seal itself to the housing like it's supposed to.

If i find the trick to also wire in the DRLs with my brights, when my DRLs kick during the day will this kick all my lights as if my brights were on??? Or will it kill them for the daytime driving forever as i really dont want them coming on during the day, they burn out too much lol

I just cant decide if i want them as blinkers/parking lights or to only come on with my brights......

not if you put the diode in the right direction.

to turn your DRLs off, just click the light switch back (to the left) - otherwise, they'll function just like they normally do + coming back on with the highs.

Ok so your saying just manually turn them off everytime? Im thinking like you I want them to just blink all the way across and run with parking... I wonder if there are any LED front signals that we could wire the same way we are doing the stockers to flash and run parking lights all the way across?? Oh also is there a way to do the relay trick with the diodes instead of doing them in the wiring harnesses under the brake booster

okay... let's start over. you've mentioned a bunch of ideas & i'm wanting to make sure we're on the same page. tell me if i'm right on this:

you're modifying a 2005 GM truck
you've successfully completed the 4-high mod
you originally wanted to make your DRLs come on with your 4-high, but later decided to convert the DRLs to parks/blinkers with LED bulbs.
