You and most of the other folks I've spoke with! It's definitely a 2WD 1500 and it definitely has torsion bars ... go figure. The window sticker indicates that it has a Manufacturer Installed Optional "Performance Suspension Package"? Aren't I lucky.

The only 1500 I have heard of with the torsions is the new Texas truck with the 6.0 and 2wd.

Yeah, I saw the info on that truck too but this is definitely not one of those. Basic 5.3 with a standard 4 spd auto and no special badging, etc. Looks like they share the wheel and tire package and maybe the suspension package but that's all?

I promise.....I wouldn't lie to you. My 1500HD 2wd 6L has torsion bars. I installed the lowering kit about 6 months after I bought the truck new in Dec 01. It has performed well. I have the K&N kit, Hypertec reprogramer, true duals with 40 Flowmasters, & a Power Aid TB spacer. It is FAST!!!! My only complaint is 1st gear (4L80E). When you'r doing 60 and want to pass.....you better have it aimed properly!

Okay, okay, i believe you but tell me more about the "kit". Where did you get the torsion retainers (I suppose those are the same thing as torsion keys). Was the install fairly straight forward or did you have it done? I do all my own work and don't want to take it anywhere.

Must be because of the 6L - but very wierd.
How is the ride ?
The kit must be replacement keys
The replacement is fairly straight forward
