well i just got my new truck, its a black 02 with 91k on the clock. i want to debadge it but im scared the side molding and badges will ghost badly, is there anyway to fix it? thanks fellas

 

get a good buffing compound? that took care of it for me

 

mine was 4 years old when i pulled off the molding and badges. no difference in color or "ghosting" as u call it. a good buff job will fix it, though....

call up Kaleb and pay him to detail your truck. he will take care of the color differences and make the entire truck look better at the same time.

 

Def get it bffed once you pull it off. A nice buff will blend eveything in no problems.

 

I used 3m compound. it was good to 1200 grit marks and it made it look the exact same as the rest! they also have a 1000 grit one i wouldnt mind tryin for other spots too

 

Is Kaleb KB? If so, his work it top notch from what I've seen and I wouldn't hesitate to use him if you're willing to pay for a detail. If you want to take the DIY route, I have some suggestions as well. 3M makes some good stuff but I don't recommend anything that claims to remove 1000-1200 grit sanding marks by hand. The problem is the abrasives start out so large that the compound itself can inflict it's own swirl marks that will be VERY hard to remove by hand. My suggestion is to get some decent microfiber and some Meguiars ScratchX or Speed Glaze if you can get your hands on it. ScratchX is very mild and will probably take multiple applications but it works regardless. Just be ready to put some work into it.

 

I pulled mine off the camaro after 12 years and you could barely see it. to fix it i used a clay bar, rubbing compound, polish then wax
