Default Anybody tried one of these black bumpers?

Ive read alot of bad stories about painting chrome bumpers no matter how good the prep job is. The other option would be to get it powder coated which would cost about 150, or get a WT bumper and get it painted which would be around 200. I could get this bumper for about 150 and still have my stocker incase something happened, but Im a bit leary of whether or not the paint on it is good and if it is a matte or gloss finish. I want a gloss finish, the seller hasnt returned my question in two days but the price is right for it, and would complete the darth vader mobile look.

To be honest for 150 I would just get your bumper powder coated. It costs more then that to buy and ship the one you posted up. Plus even though there feedback is excellent who knows how long it will stay nice.. Jmho

I bought that same bumper for my truck and got it painted to match. It is just a black primer paint on it.

Powdercoated may be the way to go. Much more durable to rock chips.

Getting the bumper painted isnt a big deal a buddy owns a body shop so I can get it done for cheap. Im just not sure which way is going to be the best to go and last and still have a very gloss finish. I dont know if a bumper powdercoated black would match the rest of the paint or be a little more dull. I think if he painted a bumper and put some of that clear bra type stuff on it it might last, the clear bra stuff he has is a liquid form he sprays on. He is going to spray my grille and hood front with it when it gets repainted in a few weeks.

Oh yeah! My paint was chipped from rocks and debris within a few weeks.

Yea, that's a semi-flat primer...it's a new bumper but I'm not sure how close to OEM standards it is. Probably about the same quality that most body shops use though...the price looks good, and I guess you could always sell your factory bumper to make back some of the costs.

Thing is I like the idea of having my factory bumpers if I dont like the blacked out look or get tired of it, or the paint starts to chip. Guess I need to talk to my buddy and find out just how good the clear bra stuff really is.

Thats the bumper to get if you want to go painted. Its harder to prep the chrome finish to adhere the paint. I thought about getting one like that when a BIT*H backed into me but i just bought another chrome one!

I may try and find a couple WT bumpers in the local junkyard first and check on powder coating prices.
