Take a look at your SS and note how on the bottom of the truck there are urethane panels that seem to be stuck onto the body. to the rear of the truck near the back bumper you will see what im talking about. look at this picture near the bumper, you will see were the body panels (gray) would stick out without the bumper there.

Also, big spinning rims would totally ruin this truck. It is a Super Sport, not a Super wannabe thugmobile. Large spinning rims will hurt performance and would pretty much cancel out the gains you would see from the performance mods you mentioned. The end result would be you getting your tail handed to you by another SS with no mods whatsoever, while you spend thousands on rims and minor performance mods. Please take our advice and relize what has been GIVEN to you. I have a 01 silverado that i am about to drop a 6.0 in and so to speak "build the SS gm should have". Please listen to a few of us veterans here on ls1tech, because you have a valuable truck and you have unlimited potential to make that truck both a looker and a killer on the streets. KNow that there are wheels out there that are large like 20's and 22's that are really light and great for performance street trucks, so if your into the Bling you can have some without hurting your ET so much. Im also willing to bet your pretty young, take our advice and truely consider what your spending money on. for 3K you could have one quick *** ride. Feel free to ask questions, we realize your new and will help you all we can.

just one thing bro...a real SS is a reg cab

ok thanks for the advice... im not a "hardcore" racer.. no offense or anything.. but i live kind of far from the race track and i dont think im going to spend a great load of money to hit 10 second ets. call it a waste if you want, but i just want my truck to be unique and still be able to spank others. who knows, maybe later, ill decide to drop a supercharger, cams, pulleys, etc... ive raced lightnings and ss's and smoked em pretty bad.. but as for now, i think im content with the 345hp.. but for sure, an intake and exhaust is on the way for a little performance boost..

lol, the truck pictured is not mine. just one off ebay i used to get to a point. Yes a real SS should be a single cab, but i dont have the option of getting a single cab at this point, eventually i will. Until then a EC 2wd with a built 6.0 will have to do, later on down the road the engine will probably go into a single cab black base model with 5 spd. I also think i can trim the SS panels to make my own kit for a single cab. It would be a nice project, but it'll have to wait about 1.5-2 years till i graduate as a Mechanical Engineer.

oh and did i hear someone say they spank lightnings with their stock SS? hmm im gunna have to call BS on this one...

Do what YOU want to do with your truck. I personally can't stand spinners, but don't let someone else tell you how to spend your money. If you want spinners and have the money to get them, then by all means do it.

While most people on this site are all about going fast, there are some of us here who like to make 'em look as good as they run.

If you need advice, ask away. Don't let someone build your truck for you though.

BTW--I would look into the McGaughy spindles. From what I understand they are the best out there. http://www.mcgaughys.com/99truck.html

I 100% agree with Scream.

Don't let a bunch of guys on an internet forum change your opinion if you really want something. It is your truck, not our truck

Personally i've gone for looks more than performance, but that is just me. If you don't want to spend 3k under the hood, thats fine...you can always do that later down the road. Get the wheels/tires you want, drop it a little bit, and you'll have one of the nicest trucks in town for sure I personally don't care for spinners, but some of them look good. Especially the ones from Davin and Dub, i just don't care for the "bolt on" spinners.

Good luck

i wasnt trying to put anyone down, by all means, to each his or her own. if it makes you happy do it.

Im all for helping and if you have beaten a lighting then kick ***, i just never have seen a stock SS do it before so im skeptical.

once again, no harsh feelings
