Default 04 Silverado SS Suggestions

Ok my dad got the red SS 4 months ago and its going to be mine pretty soon... im planning on getting some new wheels... i saw a pretty nice package on ebay... 22 inch chrome wheels, spinner kit, and tires for a little less than 3gs. i also want to lower the height maybe a couple inches.. not sure yet .. i dont really know anything about trucks and all this suspension stuff so i was wondering what is a good and affordable lowering kit and will these 22 inch wheels fit with no problem???

Also, i want to get a hard tonneau cover thats doesnt over lap the edges too much and is easy to remove just incase i need to load something big... i dont know what kind to get... What kind do you all think looks the best on the SS?

I want a clean look so im depending on yall to give this newb some advice

thanks in advance

keep the 20's becasue tires cost a arm and a leg. also you can lower it I beleive 2/4 from hotchkis or whatever it is. Spend you money on the engine. their are alot of covers out their just look around search the web. put a radix on it!

2/4 simply means the kit will drop the truck 2 inches in the front and 4 inches in the back.

ok gotcha. now will this make the front a little higher than the rear, or is the rear higher when stock, making it evenly leveled? haha sorry for the newb questions.. I'd go check but my dads gone with the truck for the week. and by the way, is hotchkis the best? what about djm? like this kit http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.c...=30&lc=pfpartt

and just out of curiousity, will 24s fit with no problem? haha

the roll pan will fit the real SS, the bed is the same as on a regular silverado. it just wont flow well with the rear of the bed because the bodyside molding on an SS is made to contour to a rear SS bumper. the result would be a lip or edge sticking out that wouldnt look so hot. Take a look at your SS and note how on the bottom of the truck there are urethane panels that seem to be stuck onto the body. to the rear of the truck near the back bumper you will see what im talking about. look at this picture near the bumper, you will see were the body panels (gray) would stick out without the bumper there.

Also, big spinning rims would totally ruin this truck. It is a Super Sport, not a Super wannabe thugmobile. Large spinning rims will hurt performance and would pretty much cancel out the gains you would see from the performance mods you mentioned. The end result would be you getting your tail handed to you by another SS with no mods whatsoever, while you spend thousands on rims and minor performance mods. Please take our advice and relize what has been GIVEN to you. I have a 01 silverado that i am about to drop a 6.0 in and so to speak "build the SS gm should have". Please listen to a few of us veterans here on ls1tech, because you have a valuable truck and you have unlimited potential to make that truck both a looker and a killer on the streets. KNow that there are wheels out there that are large like 20's and 22's that are really light and great for performance street trucks, so if your into the Bling you can have some without hurting your ET so much. Im also willing to bet your pretty young, take our advice and truely consider what your spending money on. for 3K you could have one quick *** ride. Feel free to ask questions, we realize your new and will help you all we can.
