has anybody sanded tha chrome off and painted.big chrome strip has to go!!!

I have heard of this but their is a tedency to pill. easier jsut buying a primered grill.

You can get a PTM grille w/ no chrome on it. Check the part numbers sticky in the General Truck Topics section for the p/n.

I'm about to do it to mine. I'm a professional painter so I'll no for sure if it works. I'm planning on scuffing the chrome and then epoxy priming it. THis stuff has stuck to everything I've ever used it on. We'll know shortly cuz I'm gonna do it this weekend. Wish me luck!

I had a professional paint the chrome bar on my old ZR2. I don't know exactly what he used on it, but it held up great for 2+ years before I got rid of it...so it is possible.
