Default sts v. magnacharger

i was going to wash my truck over at the do-it-yourself car washes. i was driving on the freeway going over there and what looked like a 2000 or 2001 scsb sierra began to pull up next to me in the right lane (im in the fast lane).
he rolled down his window and gave me a thumbs up. but then he pointed at himself, then at me, then at the road in front of us. i nodded my head yes. i hear him punch it, so i do the same. he gets about 1/2 truck ahead of me. then my turbo hits full boost and i start to reel him in. i shift into 4 th (im a 5spd manual) and go for about 3 more seconds. when i let off i was about 4 trucks ahead of him. he goes flying past me. i pull into the car wash. he pulls in behind me a few seconds later ( i guess he followed me, i was kinda suprised) and asks what im running. i ask the same. he has a magnacharger on his 4.8. he had e fans, and some engine dress up kit. he says hes running like 7 or 8 lbs. i was running 9lbs. but hes still got cats and a borla muffler, longtubes, and he even spent the 6-700 bucks for the msd coil packs. he SAID he was putn down 400 hp. i didnt say what i was putn down, but i will tell you all that im not at 400rwhp. at 9 lbs, off of race gas, im at like 320-325. so i know he was full of it. im thinking he was at 300 or a lil less. im glad to know that my truck can hold its own against some blown trucks.

Yeah something is wrong with those HP numbers.

FWW, "7 or 8 #'s" of boost vs 9#'s...I gotta tell ya, there is a HUGE difference. I bet the sequential rise in power is pretty great going from just 8lbs to 9lbs. Congrats on the win, but I'd check those numbers, tuner, dyno...9lbs of boost should be higher than 350hp. Unless you have 9*'s of timing going on and don't have an A2A or A2W, I'd go to bet you have more hp.

i tune my truck myself using the predator 2 that came with the kit.

i have the timing retarded a lil more when im just daily driving. but i did play with it a lil a week ago and advanced the timing 3 degrees throughout the rpms and it definately woke it up. (i was on 100 octane at the time, my last 2 gallons).

and ya, going from 7-9 lbs of boost, you can feel the difference.

im still messing around with the tuning of this thing. im no pro tuner thats for sure. i am just slowly messing around with it as i go. i really just want to get some e fans, waterpump, intake mani, some better valvetrain and call it a done until i blow the motor or get enough to put in a 408.

the elevation im at is 4200 ft

oh, and ya, i would have expected the guy to pull on me a lil harder at the beginning too. but i have tried to take care of as much of the lag as possible. i have a turbo wrap, header wrap, i wrapped the exhaust pipe about three feel before it gets to the turbo (hotside pipe i guess you could call it), i have advanced the timing in the lower rpms to get the motor going a lil faster. i dont know what else to do to get it to spool quicker. i hit full boost between 3000 and 3200 rpms in 3rd. i dont think i can get any better than that with a stock 4.8
